The Light Code

The Light Code

§0 Shine On

The MAG-Life AK proudly carries its name, with AK standing for both “Absurd Cult” and “Arbeitskreis” (working group), allowing members to choose the interpretation they prefer. It operates as a working group within a Scout Troop.
The AK maintains political and religious neutrality

§1 Overarching Goal

The MAGLife AK has the purpose of promoting the MAGLight in a humorous and absurd manner within the context of scouting, combined with educational approaches and activism. The MAGLight is meant to shine as a beacon for all scouts, symbolizing guidance and inspiration.

  • Preservation and promotion of the MagLight tradition
  • Enlightenment
  • Light-bearing educational work
  • Darkness management and consultation
  • Fostering community spirit

§2 Purpose in Action

The AK takes its mission seriously with a satirical approach, for humor is the light of enlightenment.

  • The AK is self-financing and organizes external funding as needed, while also remaining open to accepting offered funds.

§3 Membership

Anyone can become a member—Rovers and active or passive leaders—as long as they are ready to humorously revere the MagLight.

  • Members can be rovers and (active/passive) leaders who understand that the MAGLife AK represents more than just a flashlight.
  • A personal conviction toward the MagLight is sufficient; owning a MagLight is not required but is certainly desirable.
  • Children and wards of members are also considered members, as good upbringing starts early.
  • Each member can invite new members to join the AK year-round, preferably in darkness.
  • Every member can participate in AK meetings, though attendance is not mandatory.
  • Shine On!” is the greeting among members of the AK.

§3.1416 Organs of the AK

  • Batteries (AAA to D), because no juice means no light.
  • Xenon, LED, and Incandescent bulbs—each light source suits a different mood.
  • MagLight (various models)—diversity brightens the path.

§4 Meetings

The AK convenes whenever deemed necessary—or if someone loses their flashlight.

  • The AK meets when it deems necessary or when someone has lost their flashlight.
  • Meetings can be called by any member for any purpose in accordance with the statutes, especially in the event of sudden darkness.
  • Minutes are not mandatory, for who needs documentation when the light shines?

§5 Withdrawal and Dissolution

  • Leaving the AK is synonymous with the MAGLight going out—but usually, this can be avoided by replacing the batteries.
  • Withdrawal is only possible on February 29th of a leap year under a full moon, to ensure enough light guides the way out.
  • The AK cannot be dissolved. Even without members, the AK continues to exist—after all, the MAGLight never truly goes out, as long as there are spare batteries.
  • Any untraceable funds will be donated to the Förderverein e.V., with the purpose: “MAGLight—nothing more, nothing less.”
